SOOM 숨

This project marks the launch of a unique clothing line for a collaborative pop up event. A defining feature of this collection is its commitment to sustainability—each piece is upcycled, embodying a conscious effort toward reducing waste and redefining fashion with purpose.

The theme, Soom (숨), meaning “breath” in Korean, serves as both a conceptual and visual foundation for this project. The collection explores the tension between survival and suffocation, symbolizing the way modern society—driven by capitalism and corruption—can constrict human existence under the illusion of security.

To bring this vision to life, the visual concept of the shoot employs bubble wrap as a metaphor. Traditionally seen as a material for protection, here it represents an oppressive force—one that restricts rather than safeguards. This juxtaposition highlights the paradox of a system that appears to shield us yet, in reality, entraps us within its confines.

Through this series, we aim to provoke thought and raise awareness about the structures we inhabit—the societal, economic, and environmental frameworks that dictate our lives. It is an urgent reminder to question, challenge, and critically examine the systems that shape our reality. Only by doing so can we reclaim our breath, our space, and ultimately, our freedom.
